Two men, Muzaffar and Krishna Naik, were arrested in connection with a cattle trafficking case in Karnataka. Muzaffar was apprehended at Haikadi within Shankaranarayana police jurisdiction, while Krishna Naik was caught at Neerjeddu, hailing from Shirur.
On July 20, near Moorkai Pete in Shirur, a complainant named Sudeep spotted three individuals at the roadside with a black cow. The accused were allegedly beating the animal, tying it with a rope, and attempting to load it into a subcompact SUV. When Sudeep approached on his bike, one suspect fled, but the other two loaded the cow and fled the scene.
The complaint stated that the accused transported the cow cruelly with the intent to slaughter it illegally, violating Karnataka’s Prevention of Slaughter and Cattle Preservation laws.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at Brahmavar police station under relevant sections of The Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter & Preservation of Cattle Act and The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The investigation is being led by Brahmavar PSI.
