The investigation into a hit-and-run case involving the death of Mr. Devidas S/o Chandrakant Konadkar, 55, from Dadachiwadi, Dhargal, Goa, has concluded that the victim was indeed murdered by the accused. According to SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi, the Pernem police, with the help of local residents, initially tracked down the goods carrier vehicle (Registration No. GA 03 N 3662), and further investigation led to the identification of the suspects.
On May 12, 2024, around 9:00 PM, the accused parked their rickshaw dangerously on a curve, blocking traffic. Devidas questioned the rickshaw driver and the occupant, prompting an aggressive response from the accused. They chased the victim, who had left the scene on his Yamaha Fascino scooter (No. GA 11 F 3368).
The investigation revealed that the accused followed the victim and intentionally collided with his scooter at Dadachiwadi, Pernem. The rickshaw dragged the victim for a distance before the suspects fled the scene.
The driver of the goods carrier rickshaw, Mohit Kumar (19) from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, and his co-occupant, Abhishek Kumar (20), were arrested. Both suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime.
Post-mortem results confirmed the cause of death, and the body was handed over to the victim’s family. The investigation, led by PI Pernem Sachin Lokre and SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi, included combing operations and vital clues gathered from CCTV footage. The case is still under investigation.
