The Alur police have arrested three individuals in connection with the brutal murder of Bandari Eeranna, a resident of Arikera village. The accused—D Gadi Linga, D Vardhan, and K Mahesh—were presented to the media on Thursday in the presence of Pathikonda DSP B. Venkatramaiah.

Eeranna, who had worked as a field assistant for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in Arikera since 2019, became a target after the change in government. The accused reportedly sought to take over his position and pressured Eeranna to resign, threatening him with severe consequences if he refused.

Despite their threats, Eeranna remained steadfast in his job, prompting the three suspects to hatch a plot to eliminate him. On January 24, they ambushed Eeranna and viciously hacked him to death. Afterward, they fled the scene.

Following the filing of a complaint by Eeranna’s wife, Bandari Naga Lakshmi, the police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The three suspects were arrested and taken into judicial custody.

In addition to the primary suspects, three others—Mangali Gopi, Boggula Eeranna, and Boya Ramadasu—were apprehended for allegedly assisting in pressuring and threatening the victim. Police officials, including Alur Inspector B. Venkata Chalapathy and Sub-Inspector G. Dilip Kumar, were involved in the investigation.
