In a chilling case from Vasai, the Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar (MBVV) crime branch has arrested four individuals, including a local doctor and members of a family, for the brutal murder of 61-year-old retired high court lawyer Arshiya Khusro. The victim’s stepson, Imran Khusro, allegedly killed her after she refused to give him Rs1.8 lakh for an online game addiction.
According to police, the murder was cold-blooded and meticulously planned. Imran allegedly slammed Arshiya’s head against a bathroom wall on Sunday night when she denied his demand. After the assault, he ransacked her home and stole gold jewelry worth two tolas.
Imran’s father Amir Khusro and uncle Salim Khusro were complicit in the cover-up. Salim approached Dr. R R Garg, who issued a forged death certificate stating natural causes for Arshiya’s death. The family then buried her body quietly before dawn on Monday.
The crime was uncovered when Arshiya’s domestic help found suspicious blood stains and reported her disappearance to police. Within 12 hours, Imran and Amir were arrested, followed by Salim and Dr. Garg.
Police have sealed Dr. Garg’s clinic and are investigating whether he was involved in other similar crimes. They are also probing the stolen jewelry and if Imran had a history of financial demands or violence against Arshiya.
Authorities are continuing to gather statements and plan to reconstruct the crime scene and visit the burial site for further evidence. The case highlights the dark consequences of digital addiction and family conflicts escalating into tragic violence.
