A 36-year-old man, Sirajuddin Ahmed Shah, also known as Captain, wanted in connection with a murder case in Kolkata, was arrested by police in Thane district, Maharashtra, officials confirmed on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officers apprehended Shah on Thursday from the Pisvali area of Dombivili town, where he had been hiding while working in a factory in the MIDC industrial zone.
According to police, Shah had been evading arrest for the past two months after being named as a suspect in a murder investigation in West Bengal. His arrest was the result of coordinated surveillance and inter-state police cooperation.
Authorities are in the process of transferring Shah to West Bengal for further investigation and legal proceedings.
