In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Nuh Police arrested three men—Mumtaz alias Sinam (from Rehna), Asif (from Shahpur Nangli), and Azad (from Rehpwa)—after seizing 1.2 kg of heroin valued at over Rs1 crore on Wednesday. The bust is one of the largest drug recoveries in the district to date.
Acting on a tip-off, the Nuh crime unit set up a blockade near Rozka’s turn on the Sohna-Nuh road. The suspects were intercepted while travelling in a Scorpio SUV, where police found the heroin hidden in a polythene bag under the handbrake.
“When the vehicle approached the checkpoint, the driver attempted to flee but was caught,” said SI Mahendra Kumar, adding that the drugs were well concealed.
A case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Rozkamev police station, and the accused are being interrogated. They will be produced in court following questioning.
The seizure is part of an ongoing anti-narcotics operation in the region. As per Nuh police’s 2024 annual report, 270 NDPS cases have led to 378 arrests so far.
