Mumbai Police Bust Major Heroin Racket, 9 Arrested

8.8 Kg Heroin Worth Rs 36.55 Crore Seized

Mumbai police have dismantled a major drug smuggling and trafficking racket, arresting nine individuals and seizing 8.832 kilograms of heroin valued at over Rs 36.55 crore.

The operation began on December 16 with surveillance from 2:30 am to 6:30 pm. Two men, Jalaram Natwar Thakkar (37) and Wasim Mazruddin Syed (27), were arrested with 326.22 grams of heroin worth Rs 1.30 crore. They were booked under Sections 8(a), 21(a), and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. Additional properties were seized, raising the total seizure to Rs 1.47 crore at this stage.

Investigations led police to Rubina Mohammad Sayyed Khan (30), who revealed the heroin belonged to Shabnam Sheikh, later arrested in Ajmer. Subsequent leads uncovered Muskan Samrul Sheikh (19), a supplier to Shabnam, arrested from Masjid Bandar. Muskan disclosed her supplier, Meherban Ali, prompting a police trap on December 24, resulting in the arrest of Abdul Qadir Sheikh with heroin worth Rs 1.38 crore.

A special team traced the main suppliers to a premises in Anand Nagar, Mumbai, where three men—Nawajis Ghalib Khan, Sarik Mohammad Salim Salmani, and Samad Ghalib Khan—were found packing heroin. Police seized a massive consignment valued at Rs 33.86 crore.

The Pydhonie police have arrested a total of six men and three women. The total seizure includes:

8.832 kg of heroin worth Rs 36.55 crore

Cash: Rs 8.26 lakh

Motor car: Rs 10 lakh

12 mobile phones worth Rs 1.40 lakh

This coordinated operation marks one of the largest heroin busts in Mumbai, dealing a significant blow to the narcotics network.
