Delhi Police busted a Mumbai-based online casino racket in Sultanpuri, arresting nine individuals, including the kingpin Bhuvender alias Bhupender (48), on September 5. The gang allegedly lured victims via suspicious download links, QR codes, and OTPs to install unauthorized gambling apps.
During a raid near DDA Market, police seized Rs 85,320 in cash, six computer systems, and gambling paraphernalia. The accused also include Suraj (26), Mayank (20), Rahul (26), Rohan (23), Rajender Gupta (40), Dharamvir (33), Dilshad Ahmed (33), and Rajesh Gupta (32).
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Sachin Sharma, Bhuvender had been previously involved in five cases under the Delhi Public Gambling Act. The illegal apps were distributed through messaging platforms, prompting users to buy tokens with real money to place bets. After operating for two to three months, the apps would vanish and resurface under new names to trap fresh users.
The case is under investigation as authorities work to dismantle this sophisticated online gambling network.
