In a series of successful drug busts across Assam, the police have made several arrests and seized significant quantities of illegal substances.
In Panbazar, a team from the Panbazar PS, acting on intelligence reports, raided a hideout at 2 No. Railway Gate, Lakhtakia, apprehending two drug peddlers, Anower Ali (21) and Hamidul Islam (27). The police seized 7 vials of heroin, weighing 9.42 grams. Legal action has been initiated against the duo.
In a separate operation, a team from Azara PS, along with Borjhar OP, raided a rented house in Kahikuchi, where they found a married couple, Md. Mujahid Ali (24) and Anju Begum (24), involved in drug peddling. The police seized 30 vials of heroin, a Yamaha FZ bike, and a smartphone. Both individuals have been arrested, and legal proceedings are underway.
Meanwhile, a team from the Special Operations Group (SOG) of WGPD and Gorchuk PS raided a hideout in Lokhra Bazaar, seizing 5.152 kg of ganja. Two suspects, Jahangir Alam (27) and Rumi Mahanta (29), were arrested during the operation, and a scooty was also seized. Legal action has been initiated against them.
In a high-stakes raid at Balughat, Basistha PS arrested Salim Ahmed (32), seizing 11 soap boxes containing 123.46 grams of heroin, a scooty, and other incriminating items. Legal action has also been initiated against Ahmed.
The police are continuing their investigation and working to dismantle the local drug networks.
