In a significant breakthrough, police arrested six suspects in connection with the Rs38 lakh robbery of a shopkeeper near Hindon Pushta Road, Vasundhara, earlier this week. The arrests were made late Wednesday night during a coordinated crackdown and checking operation, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The accused have been identified as Mukul Singh (24), Nitesh Kumar (25), Surendra Kumar (24), Akash Kumar (22), Vivek Singh (20), and Vishal Singh (24). According to authorities, Mukul and Nitesh were insiders—employees at victim Pravesh Bishnoi’s shop in Vaishali—who helped orchestrate the crime.
“They knew Bishnoi routinely carried large sums of cash on his scooter,” said ACP Abhishek Srivastava. “Together with their accomplices, they devised a plan to rob him.” On the night of the incident, Surendra, Akash, and Sachin (still absconding) intercepted Bishnoi on a bike and snatched the cash. The gang later regrouped at Vishal Singh’s residence in Noida before splitting the money.
Investigators traced the suspects using mobile phone data, CCTV footage, and local intelligence. Authorities estimate that at least 10 individuals were involved in the planning and execution of the robbery.
Additional CP Alok Priyadarshi confirmed that while six arrests have been made, four suspects remain on the run.
