Mukesh Leads iPhone Scam 4 Held in Gurugram Cyber Bust

In a major breakthrough, the Cyber Crime Police (East) of Gurugram have arrested four individuals from Hisar district in Haryana for allegedly running an online scam involving fake iPhone sales through social media.

The accused — identified as Sunny, Aniket, Hitesh Jangra, and Mukesh alias Rohit — were involved in a racket that tricked unsuspecting buyers into paying for iPhones that were never delivered. Police recovered six mobile phones, an ATM card, two bank passbooks, and Rs 18,000 in cash during the operation.

The case originated from a complaint filed on January 29, in which a victim claimed he was conned out of Rs 30,000 in an online iPhone deal. Acting swiftly under the direction of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cyber Crime/DLF), Vikas Kaushik, a team led by the SHO tracked the suspects to Hisar.

Aniket, Sunny, and Hitesh were arrested on April 3, followed shortly by the arrest of Mukesh. The trio were initially remanded to four days in police custody before being sent to jail.

Investigations revealed a complex fraud network: Aniket’s bank account and Sunny’s mobile number were used in the transactions. They sold the account to Hitesh for a fee, who later passed it on to Mukesh — the main orchestrator — who used it to commit the fraud.

Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for Gurugram Police, confirmed the payments: Sunny received Rs 4,000, Aniket Rs 8,000, and Hitesh Rs 20,000 for the account transfer. Mukesh then posed as a seller online, duping multiple victims.

Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution and only buy products from verified and trusted sellers online.
