The Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) on Sunday arrested three men from Odisha for allegedly smuggling and selling ganja in Ingur, an area under the jurisdiction of the Chennimalai police station near Perundurai in Erode district.
Acting on a tip-off, PEW officers set up surveillance near the Ingur flyover. During the operation, they intercepted two men engaged in a suspicious exchange involving a bag. Upon questioning, the suspects were identified as Mukesh Digal and Suraj Kumar, both hailing from Odisha.
The third suspect, believed to be part of the same smuggling operation, was also apprehended shortly after. Police believe the gang was transporting ganja from Odisha to Tamil Nadu for local distribution.
All three were taken into custody, and further investigations are underway to trace their network and source of supply.
