Mukesh Das Arrested for Vehicle Parts Theft in Surathkal

Stolen spare parts worth Rs96,000, lorry recovered by police

The Surathkal Police have arrested Mukesh Das (46), originally from Jodhpur, Rajasthan and currently residing in Srinivasa Nagar, Banashankari, Bengaluru, in connection with the theft of vehicle spare parts from a garage in the Hosabettu area.

Police recovered stolen vehicle spare parts valued at Rs96,000 and also confiscated the Eicher lorry used in the crime, valued at Rs15 lakh. In total, property worth Rs15.96 lakh was recovered.

The incident occurred on the night of February 14, 2025, when the accused arrived in the lorry, which was parked near Friends Garage beside the Hosabettu National Highway for repairs. During this time, he allegedly stole two heavy vehicle spare parts and fled in the same vehicle.

Following a complaint by the garage owner, the Surathkal Police launched an investigation, leading to Mukesh Das’s arrest. He was later produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
