In a significant crackdown on narcotics, Kochi City Police on Tuesday arrested two individuals and seized 51.51 grams of MDMA near Edappally. The arrested were identified as Muhammed Haneef N A, 52, a resident of Anangoor, Kasaragod, and Riyas P R, 39, from Valiyaparam House in Mattancherry.
The arrests were made following a tip-off received by City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya, alerting authorities to a drug consignment being brought into Edappally for sale. Acting swiftly, a team from the Kochi City District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force, led by Narcotics Cell ACP K A Abdul Salam, conducted a targeted search near Old Cheranalloor Road in Edappally North.

Both individuals are in custody, and further investigations are underway to trace the source of the drugs and identify any wider networks involved in the smuggling and distribution.
