Muhammad Asif, 29, of Mississauga, has been charged with multiple Criminal Code offenses, including attempted murder and kidnapping, following an ongoing investigation by Peel Regional Police.

The initial probe began in the spring after an intimate partner violence incident on April 15, during which Asif allegedly used a firearm. Police executed a search warrant at Asif’s home and vehicle, recovering a 9mm handgun and an undisclosed quantity of drugs.

Asif faces several charges including uttering threats, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking opioids and schedule 1 cocaine, and two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to court order.

Following his arrest, police linked Asif to a kidnapping and attempted murder case from March 9 near Burnhamthorpe Road West and Mavis Road in Mississauga. A warrant for his arrest was issued, leading to his re-arrest on June 2, when he was formally charged with kidnapping and attempted murder.

All charges remain before the court and have yet to be tested.
