Moustapha Diop Arrested for Credit Card Fraud in Irvine

Stolen goods recovered, returned after quick police work

IRVINE, CA — A man has been arrested for credit card fraud after allegedly making multiple unauthorized purchases at stores in the Spectrum Center, according to the Irvine Police Department.

On Sunday, officers received several reports of suspicious transactions involving a stolen credit card at various retail outlets in the shopping complex.

Irvine officers assigned to the Spectrum followed the digital and physical evidence trail to a local Irvine resident, later identified as Moustapha Diop.

Following an interview, Diop confessed to the fraudulent activity. Officers also recovered the stolen merchandise, which has since been returned to the affected businesses.

Authorities praised the quick and coordinated response by the patrol team for resolving the case swiftly and minimizing losses for the retailers involved.
