In a major breakthrough, the Kangra police have solved a blind murder case involving the death of a woman whose body was discovered in the Galu Langa forest near Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. Three migrant labourers from Bihar have been arrested in connection with the murder.

The arrested men have been identified as Motu Kumar from West Champaran and Chhote Lal and Moti Lal, both from Madhubani district. All three were residing and working in the Palampur sub-division at the time of the crime.

According to Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri, the victim’s body was found on April 22 and had a tattoo reading “Pinky” on her right arm. A case was registered under Section 103, 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Following forensic analysis and mobile record tracking, police matched the tattoo with a missing person report for Pinky Devi, filed by her husband Dinesh Turi on April 10 at Bhavarna Police Station. He later identified the body as his wife.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by DSP Lokendra Negi was deployed. The team traced the primary suspect, Motu Kumar Gond, to Delhi, where he was hiding at his mother-in-law’s residence in Mundka. The arrest was made swiftly, and subsequent interrogation led to the arrest of the other two accomplices.

Authorities praised the coordination between the SIT and local police in cracking the case, which had initially baffled investigators.
