Mother Accused of Using Baby Stroller to Shoplift Nearly $10,000 in Designer Goods

BOCA RATON, Fla. — A West Palm Beach woman faces multiple charges after allegedly using her baby’s stroller to conceal and steal nearly $10,000 worth of designer merchandise from Saks Fifth Avenue in Boca Raton.

On Wednesday, Boca Raton Police Department (BRPD) officers responded to reports of retail theft at the Saks store on W Glades Road. Loss prevention officials told police that 31-year-old Kadra West was caught on security cameras hiding several high-end items inside her purse and stroller.

According to the police affidavit, West left the store with merchandise valued at close to $10,000, including a $3,950 black dress, a $2,990 beige purse, and a $2,900 white purse. When questioned, West admitted to stealing the goods to resell online, claiming unemployment as her motivation. She also confessed to using her 8-month-old child’s stroller as a distraction to avoid detection.

A search of West’s belongings uncovered twelve 10 mg Percocet pills, which she did not have a prescription for.

West was booked on charges of grand theft, contributing to the delinquency of a child, and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.
