A woman and her two sons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 62-year-old laborer, Salim Ahmed, at a brick kiln near Tanda Bhaneda in the Manglaur area of Haridwar district. The incident occurred on April 27.
Salim Ahmed, a resident of Balwa Gujran village in Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh, had been working as a brick moulder at the kiln, alongside his wife Imrana and their five sons. Investigations revealed that Salim had a short temper and often physically abused his family over minor issues.
Fed up with his abusive behavior, Imrana, along with their 18-year-old son Mushahid and a minor son, allegedly conspired to kill him. During the investigation, police discovered that all three were involved in the crime.
Manglaur police station in-charge, Shanti Kumar Gangwar, confirmed the arrests: “Imrana and Mushahid were arrested on Monday, while the minor son was arrested a day earlier. All three have been produced before the local court and sent to judicial custody.”
Initially, police suspected Mushahid as the sole perpetrator. However, further investigation suggested a broader conspiracy. On the day of the incident, Salim began scolding Mushahid for working too slowly. In a fit of anger, Imrana and the younger son pushed Salim, causing him to fall. Mushahid then allegedly struck Salim on the back of his head with a shovel, killing him instantly. Afterward, Mushahid fled the scene.
This tragic incident highlights the extent of domestic violence within the family, ultimately leading to a deadly outcome. The case is currently under judicial review, with further investigations ongoing.
