An Athens man was arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop led authorities to discover multiple boxes of drug-infused candy bars and other THC-related products.

Moses Alexander Payan, 25, of Athens, faces four counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance along with a charge of marijuana possession.

According to investigators with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, the case began around 2:16 p.m. Tuesday when deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Loop 7 and Farm-to-Market Road 2495 for a traffic violation.

During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a large brown box filled with various THC products. The items reportedly included candy bars infused with psilocybin and THC, bottles of high-potency THC syrup, and THC cannabis wax.

Following the discovery, investigators obtained a search warrant for Payan’s residence located in the 2400 block of Farm to Market Road 2495.

When authorities searched the home, they reportedly found large bags of marijuana along with additional THC products. Investigators also seized THC vape cartridges, more cannabis wax, digital scales, custom packaging materials, and cash believed to be connected to drug distribution.

Payan was taken into custody and booked into the Henderson County Jail. Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
