MOOREVILLE, N.C. — A Mooresville man, 37-year-old Joshua Andrew Moore, was arrested on December 26 by Iredell County Deputies on several felony charges, including failure to report a new address as a sex offender, possession of multiple drugs, and theft of stolen vehicles.
Deputies arrived at Moore’s residence on Coddle Creek Highway after receiving information about his violations. Upon arrival, they observed someone peering out of a window before the occupants briefly delayed coming to the door. Once they entered the home, deputies located Moore and arrested him on outstanding felony warrants. During the arrest, deputies saw narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain view, prompting a search of the home, where fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine were discovered. Moore admitted that the drugs were his.
Additionally, deputies had prior information suggesting Moore was involved in the theft of a van from a Mooresville church. When questioned, Moore led authorities to the hidden van in the woods near Timber Road. As officers escorted him to their patrol car, Moore spontaneously confessed to the theft of a black Ford truck parked in the driveway. A check confirmed the truck had been reported stolen in Mecklenburg County.
Moore, a registered sex offender with a long criminal history, was arrested and booked into the Iredell County Jail without bond. He faces charges of failure to register as a sex offender, sex offender residence violation, possession of methamphetamine (two counts), possession of fentanyl, possession of cocaine, and possession of stolen motor vehicles (two counts). He also faces charges of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, injury to personal property, and possession of stolen goods.
Moore had an initial court appearance on December 30, and multiple District Court appearances are scheduled, with the first one on January 7.
