The Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested Monu alias Lukka, a resident of Gohana, Sonepat, in connection with the murder of Rajesh Chopra, a car dealer from Mohali. Chopra’s body was discovered near Aman Hotel along the Kurukshetra railway tracks on January 15, creating a shock in the area. The body was identified through ID cards as that of the Chandigarh native, currently residing in Mohali.
Police reported that the victim had sustained a throat-slitting injury. Following the discovery, GRP teams, led by Inspector Sanjay Kumar, conducted extensive searches across Mohali, Panchkula, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Jaipur, ultimately arresting Monu at Ambala Cantonment railway station.
Investigations revealed that Monu was a close aide of Chopra and handled money collection on his behalf in the Tricity region. Authorities said Monu allegedly held a grudge against Chopra over a prior dispute. He has been presented in court and remanded, while police continue probing all angles, including monetary motives.
The case underscores the GRP’s rapid investigative response and vigilance along railway lines, aiming to bring perpetrators to justice.
