In a swift breakthrough, Delhi Police have arrested three men for the murder of Makbul Akram, who was stabbed to death during a robbery attempt at a bus stop in Badarpur, southeast Delhi. The incident occurred early morning on July 26, when Akram, a job-seeker from Mithapur Extension, was waiting for a bus.
According to police, the accused—Mohsin alias Noor, Deepak, and Himanshu—targeted Akram for his mobile phone. When he resisted the snatching attempt, Himanshu stabbed him twice, causing fatal injuries. The trio then fled the scene on a scooter.
Police received a distress call around 5:51 AM and found the victim unconscious with a stab wound to the chest. Akram was declared dead at the hospital, and his mobile phone was missing.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemant Tiwari formed a special investigation team led by Additional DCP Aishwarya Sharma. The team analyzed over 1,000 CCTV camera feeds across Delhi and Haryana, eventually identifying the suspects through footage of a scooter without a headlight heading from Jaitpur to Ismailpur border.
Mohsin, who worked at a hotel in Basantpur, Haryana, was the first to be arrested. He led police to his accomplices, Deepak and Himanshu, both drug users from Molarband Village. The three had been staying at the hotel together, consuming drugs and planning robberies.
The scooter used in the crime was traced to Mohsin, who drove, with Deepak in the middle and Himanshu as pillion. On spotting Akram using his phone, the accused turned around to initiate the attack. Himanshu, acting on Deepak’s instructions, stabbed the victim before fleeing.
The trio now face charges of murder and robbery, and further investigation is underway.
