In a crackdown on illegal online gambling, the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force – South Zone Team, in coordination with Chikkadapally police, busted a cricket betting racket tied to the IPL 2025 season. Three individuals have been arrested for their involvement in running and participating in online cricket betting.
The police apprehended Mohd Firasath Ali, a sub-bookie from SRT Colony, Rein Bazar, and two punters — Nitin Kumar from Moosarambagh and Vikas Agarwal from Domalguda. During the operation near Sundaraiah Park, authorities seized Rs2,48,200 in cash and several mobile phones used for betting.
Investigations revealed that the accused were operating through online platforms including Peachexch, Radheexchange.com, and Silvarbay.com, using betting user IDs procured from the main bookie Pavan, based in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The accused provided login credentials to punters and facilitated online cricket betting during IPL matches. Following their arrest, all suspects and the seized material were handed over to Chikkadapally police for further legal action and investigation.
Authorities are continuing efforts to track down the main operator and curb the spread of illegal online betting networks.
