The Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone arrested Mohd Faisal Khan (25) from Kishanbagh for allegedly illegally procuring and selling steroid injections without a valid licence or medical prescription in Attapur. Authorities seized drugs and equipment worth Rs1.60 lakh during the operation.
Police said Khan, a furniture shop worker, was found in possession of 133 vials of Mephentermine Sulphate injections (30 mg each), 100 disposable syringes, and a mobile phone.
Investigations revealed that Khan, who frequented gyms, became aware of the high demand for steroid injections among youth seeking rapid muscle growth. He allegedly sourced the injections from Surat and sold them locally at inflated prices without authorisation or doctor oversight.
Acting on a tip-off, the West Zone Task Force apprehended him while transporting the drugs. During interrogation, Khan reportedly admitted to purchasing the steroids through Indian Mart and supplying them to known customers.
Police warned that the unauthorised sale and use of steroid injections posed serious health risks and violated provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Individuals who had used the injections were counselled and advised to seek medical consultation.
