Four people, including the main accused Mohd Ahmed, were arrested for duping around 30 citizens by falsely promising 2BHK flats under the Telangana Government’s housing scheme. The accused gang collected over Rs42.35 lakh from victims across Hyderabad, including Bandlaguda, Amberpet, Mangalhat, Golconda, Madannapet, and Attapur.
According to DCP (Task Force) YVS Sudheendra, Mohd Ahmed (25), an AC technician and part-time real estate agent from Ghouse Nagar, Bandlaguda, masterminded the scam. With his associate Mohd Amjad alias Munavar (21), they posed as brokers offering fake allotments in exchange for bribes ranging from Rs50,000 to Rs2.22 lakh.
To make their claims convincing, they enlisted Kothakota Raj Kumar Reddy alias Raju (33), a construction supervisor at a government housing site, to show ongoing construction to victims. Another accused, Mir Kousar Ali alias Siraj (32), a tea seller from Golconda, lured victims for commission.
Using the PicsArt mobile app, they created fake allotment letters, forged RDO signatures, and added counterfeit government seals. Authorities seized 11 such letters, 6 fake stamps, Rs5.5 lakh in cash, and four mobile phones.
The gang reportedly ran the operation for over two years, targeting low-income families desperately seeking government housing support.
Police registered cases at multiple police stations under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) including Bandlaguda, Amberpet, Bhavani Nagar, Madannapet, Mangalhat, and Golconda.
