by Ananya Mehta

The Cyber Police Station in Bhubaneswar has arrested a 33-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh on charges of defrauding a retired company executive of Rs98 lakh through a fake online trading platform.

The accused, Mohammed Shadab, hails from Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh and is a computer science graduate.

According to the police, the victim — a retired executive — was lured into an online trading scheme in June and July this year, and was tricked into transferring large sums of money across multiple bank accounts. One of these accounts was directly linked to Shadab, helping investigators trace the transaction trail.

After a detailed investigation, Bhubaneswar cyber police arrested Shadab on Friday and brought him to Odisha for further legal proceedings.

Police are currently investigating whether other individuals were involved in the racket and if more victims were targeted through similar scams.
