Detectives investigating the death of a teenager in Bradford have charged an 18-year-old man with murder and several other offences.
West Yorkshire Police responded to reports of a fight involving multiple men armed with bladed weapons on Newton Street, West Bowling, just after 2:30 p.m. on Friday. During the altercation, 19-year-old Mohammed Junaid Khan sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
This morning, police confirmed that Mohammed Mehmood, 18, of Woodroyd Road, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, assault causing actual bodily harm, and possession of a knife in a public place. He has been remanded into custody and is set to appear at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court later today.
In connection with the incident, eight other males were arrested. Among them, a 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of blackmail and released on bail pending further inquiries. Multiple others were arrested on suspicion of murder, affray, or assisting an offender, with some released under investigation or on bail.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and question suspects.
