Pant Nagar police have solved the murder of Aminabi Siddiqui (41), who was found dead with her throat slit last week at PWD Ground Road in Rising City, Ghatkopar East. Authorities have arrested her neighbour, Mohammed Irfan alias Fakrealam Ansari (42), who allegedly committed the crime over a financial dispute after the victim failed to repay a Rs 3 lakh loan taken from Irfan’s wife. The police are also examining the role of Irfan’s wife in the matter.

On December 24, Aminabi, residing in an SRA building near Rising City, went for her routine night walk behind her house. When she did not respond to her husband Mohammed Anwar’s calls and did not return home, her family began searching for her. Around 10 am on December 25, she was discovered lying in a pool of blood just 100 meters from her home. Mohammed Anwar drives an auto rickshaw and the couple has four children: two boys and two daughters.

A case of murder was initially registered against an unknown person at Pant Nagar Police Station. Following investigation, the police traced the accused neighbour, arrested him, and are now conducting further inquiries to confirm all aspects of the financial dispute and involvement of his wife.
