The City Crime Branch on Sunday arrested two individuals in Maninagar with illegal mephedrone drugs valued at Rs7 lakh, along with other seized property totaling Rs7.86 lakh.

As per an FIR registered with the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB), the arrest took place around 11 a.m. near Raj Ratna Arcade, opposite Maninagar railway station.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Salim Sheikh and Semon Khalani, were found in possession of 70.730 grams of mephedrone, a banned psychotropic substance. Along with the drugs, police confiscated three mobile phones valued at Rs75,000, Rs4,500 in cash, two bags, packaging materials, and various ID documents including Aadhaar and PAN cards.

During interrogation, the duo revealed they had sourced the narcotics from a man named Gosuddin, reportedly residing in Dharavi T Junction, Mumbai. Authorities have acquired multiple phone numbers linked to Gosuddin, who is now under investigation.

A formal case has been registered against Sheikh, Khalani, and their supplier under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police say an extensive probe is underway to uncover the broader network involved in this illegal drug trade.
