In a major breakthrough, police arrested Mohammad Danish Iqbal (23), a notorious criminal wanted in several murder and extortion cases across Bihar and Jharkhand, including the killing of a former mukhiya in Katkamdag. The arrest was made near Nagwa aerodrome by Officer-in-Charge Nishant Kerketta of Lohsinghna police station, as confirmed by SP Anjani Anjan.
Iqbal, a resident of Ramna Mohalla under Sherghati police station limits in Gaya district, Bihar, was a key member of an interstate criminal gang. The gang, led by criminals such as Uttam Yadav, Shakti Giri, and Photo Khan, is linked to multiple cases of murder, extortion, kidnapping, and robbery across Hazaribag and Chatra (Jharkhand), and Gaya and Aurangabad (Bihar).
According to SP Anjani, Iqbal confessed his involvement in:
The murder of former mukhiya Uday Saw
The attack on Bharatmala Project camp in Gurua (Bihar)
The bombing at Dr. Tapeshwar Prasad’s clinic in Gaya on January 4
Police seized four mobile phones, SIM cards, fake Aadhaar and PAN cards, routers, and several other incriminating documents from his possession.
Authorities are now investigating his links with other gang members, and further revelations are expected as interrogation continues. The arrest is being hailed as a significant blow to the interstate crime syndicate operating in the region.
