Mohamed Farah Jailed in UK for Role in Major Cannabis Plot

Farah sentenced after being tracked down in Dunstable

Mohamed Abdulkadir Farah, 29, has become the seventh person jailed as part of a sweeping drug investigation by the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), following a large-scale cannabis distribution operation across Northampton, Buckinghamshire, and Essex.

The police operation began in 2022, uncovering a sophisticated criminal setup responsible for supplying roughly 100kg of cannabis. When arrests were made in April 2023, Farah was abroad in Saudi Arabia and later moved to Sweden, avoiding extradition.

However, a tip-off from the public in early 2025 led detectives to Farah’s whereabouts in Milton Keynes, where he was found living under an assumed identity. Officers tracked his movements and eventually arrested him in Dunstable on April 2.

Farah, of Towan Avenue, Milton Keynes, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cannabis at Northampton Crown Court on May 16 and was sentenced to four years in prison.

Detective Sergeant Chris Sewell of EMSOU praised the determination of his team:

“Farah joins a long list of his criminal colleagues who are all now behind bars… This case shows that no matter where criminals hide, we will track them down and bring them to justice.”

In related convictions:

Viktor Karavaqiri, 26, was sentenced to three years and four months in April 2025 after being extradited from Spain.

Five other men, including ringleader Fjoraldo Lazaj, were jailed last year for a combined total of over 15 years.

Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings are currently ongoing to recover illicit gains made by the network.
