In a major breakthrough, Mohali Police have successfully dismantled two women-led criminal gangs involved in car snatching and gold jewelry thefts, arresting a total of nine individuals. The police have claimed to have solved high-profile cases, including the Thar vehicle theft and a robbery in Zirakpur, where a woman robbed a man who had offered her a lift.
DIG (Ropar Range) Nimalbari Jagdale confirmed that the police had busted a car-snatching syndicate led by a woman, resulting in the arrest of six gang members. This successful operation led to the resolution of the Thar theft case within just 24 hours.
The arrested suspects are identified as Arshdeep Singh, Jaspal Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Vikram Singh, Angadjot Singh, and the female leader, Shaima Khan (alias Khusi), who hails from Barmulla, Kashmir, and currently resides in Mohali. These individuals were arrested in different locations, including Sohana Mohali, Barkandi Bathinda, and Sector 35-D Chandigarh.
The investigation began on November 3, when Deepak Aggarwal from Mandi Gobindgarh and his female companion were attacked by 3-4 unidentified individuals near the Radhaswami Dera traffic signal. The assailants assaulted Aggarwal and drove off with his Thar vehicle. The female accomplice, identified as Khusi, was found to be colluding with the gang. This revelation led the police to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects.
Additionally, the gang confessed to stealing an I-20 car, which was documented in an FIR filed at Police Station Sohana on October 26.
In another operation, police arrested three more individuals, including a woman, from a separate gang, further strengthening their efforts to crack down on organized car thefts and robberies in the region.
