In a major crackdown on organised crime, Mohali police have arrested four members of a robbery gang and recovered two stolen vehicles — a truck and a Mahindra pickup — officials said.
DSP (Mullapur Garibdas) Harsimrat Singh stated that the arrests were made during a special drive launched on the directions of SSP Harmandeep Hans to curb anti-social elements in the district. The operation was supervised by SP (Rural-SAS Nagar) Manpreet Singh, PPS, and executed by teams led by Inspector Gauravbans Singh, SHO of City Kurali Police Station, and Inspector Malkit Singh, in charge of the narcotic cell, using human intelligence and modern technical resources.
The case relates to a robbery on December 24, when a Mahindra pickup (HP-72-C-0133) was snatched from Sandeep Kumar on Ropar Road, Kurali. A complaint was lodged the next day at City Kurali Police Station.
During the investigation, police first arrested Balwinder Singh alias Prince of Ludhiana and Mandeep Singh alias Kaka of Patiala near Kurali bypass. Their interrogation led to the arrest of Sarabjit Singh alias Kala of Sangrur and Ramandeep Singh alias Sammi of Barnala on January 8.
The stolen Mahindra pickup was recovered from Churu district, Rajasthan, and a stolen truck (PB13BN7267) from Banur was also seized. A fresh case has been registered under Sections 309(4), 3(5), 317(2), and 61(2) of the BNS.
DSP Harsimrat Singh added that further investigation is underway to identify other gang members. Officials termed the arrests and recoveries a significant step in dismantling organised vehicle theft and robbery networks in the region.
