Mohali and Panchkula Police made significant arrests in separate operations over the past 12 hours, seizing large quantities of heroin and an illegal country-made pistol.
In Mohali, the Mataur Police arrested two individuals, Jora Singh (from Dhakan Bangar village, Fatehabad, Haryana) and Mandeep Goyal (from Kapod village, Hisar), after receiving a tip-off about their involvement in drug trafficking. On Tuesday, the police detained both men and recovered 44.6 grams of heroin from Jora Singh and 17.30 grams from Mandeep Goyal. Both suspects have been charged under the NDPS Act, and they were presented in court, with the police granted a two-day remand for further questioning.
Meanwhile, in Panchkula, the Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested Mayank Singh, 24, from Hangola village, and Sandeep Kumar alias Latru, 32, from Khangesra village. Acting on intelligence, police intercepted their car near Alipur Khangesra Road and seized 33.04 grams of heroin and a country-made pistol from Mayank Singh, while Sandeep Kumar was found with 10.22 grams of heroin. Both men failed to provide any documentation for the firearm or the drugs.
The duo was arrested and remanded to three-day police custody after being presented in court. The police suspect that the heroin was sourced from Zirakpur and was intended for distribution in Panchkula, while the illegal firearm was procured from Nahan. Investigators also noted that both individuals appeared to be drug addicts themselves.
Both cases highlight the ongoing fight against the drug trade and illegal firearms in the region. Authorities are continuing their investigations to uncover further links in these trafficking networks.
