On April 30, the Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department carried out a significant drug bust, seizing 451.100 grams of heroin hidden in 40 soap boxes from Champhai district, which is located near the Indo-Myanmar border.

The drugs were confiscated from Rohlupuia (38), a resident of Tuirial Airfield in Aizawl district, on Zokhawthar road. The authorities also seized the vehicle involved in the smuggling operation—an Ignis car with registration number MZ01 AD-3270.

Rohlupuia has been booked under Section 21(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, for trafficking in heroin. He has been presented before the District and Sessions Court in Champhai for further legal proceedings.

Officials stated that an investigation is ongoing to trace another individual who is suspected to be involved in this illicit drug smuggling operation.
