A man has been charged following a string of vehicle break-ins across Deal and Sholden, thanks to the swift response from local police.
Mitchell Gent, 26, of Freemens Way, Deal, was arrested on Thursday, 20 February, after police launched an investigation into multiple reports of vehicle interference between Saturday, 8 February, and Wednesday, 19 February, 2025.
Gent has been charged with:
Vehicle interference
Theft from a motor vehicle
Possession of a Class B drug (cannabis)
He remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, 21 February.
Investigation Sparks Following Series of Thefts
The investigation was initiated after Kent Police received nine separate reports detailing break-ins where cars were searched and items stolen. Stolen items included:
A headtorch
Cash
Computer accessories
The thefts occurred in both the Deal and Sholden areas, raising concerns among local residents.

Inspector Mark Sankey praised the community for their vigilance and support during the investigation, stating:
“We are grateful to all who have provided information regarding vehicle interference in the town. We urge residents to report any suspicious activity to Kent Police immediately, as it allows our officers to respond quickly and effectively.
