YUBA CITY, Calif. — Two individuals were arrested on June 10 in connection with a string of mail thefts and identity fraud incidents in Sutter County, authorities confirmed.
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation in the week of June 2 after receiving multiple reports of stolen mail, credit card fraud, and identity theft from residents across the county.
A Community Services Officer initially identified leads, which were then followed up by the Investigations Unit. This led to a search warrant for a residence on the 800 block of Graystone Court in Yuba City.
During the search, investigators uncovered more than 100 stolen mail items, along with checks, credit cards, identification cards, and burglary tools.
Two suspects, 32-year-old Misael Cazares and 35-year-old Crystal Solis-Hirshkorn, were taken into custody without incident. They were booked into the Sutter County Jail on multiple felony charges, including:
Identity theft
Possession of burglary tools
Possessing identification documents of more than 10 individuals with intent to defraud
Mail theft
The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement works to return the stolen property to its rightful owners and determine the full scope of the fraud.
