TOLEDO, Ohio — Two individuals were arrested on October 10, 2024, in connection with a gift card scam in Toledo.
Mingxuan Fang and Kefeng Xue were charged with receiving stolen property, retaining or disposing of property obtained through theft, misuse of credit cards, and knowingly buying or selling stolen property, according to a police report.
Detectives, including Detective Brian Kennedy and task force members, were monitoring the Secor and Executive Parkway area when they noticed a vehicle with a license plate that returned as “plate not found” in the system.
The vehicle was followed to a Meijer store at 1500 E. Alexis, where further surveillance linked the suspects’ behavior to an ongoing task force investigation into gift card scams.
After the suspects returned to their vehicle, police stopped the vehicle and found 49 Razor gold gift cards, two Visa debit cards, $4,000 in cash, and two fake passports inside.
The suspects were taken into custody, and the evidence was collected for further investigation.
