LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A dramatic car theft and police chase ended with the arrest of 27-year-old Miguel Dejesus-Gomez on Wednesday after he allegedly stole a Mercedes-Benz and led police on a multi-agency manhunt.
According to authorities, Dejesus-Gomez stole the luxury vehicle from the Manheim Auto Auction in Penn Township around 3:10 p.m., nearly striking three security guards as he fled the scene.
Police later spotted the stolen vehicle on Route 30. Dejesus-Gomez attempted to flee by exiting at Walnut Street but crashed the car and fled on foot.
Officers from East Lampeter Township, Manheim Township, Pennsylvania State Police, and Lancaster City responded and established a perimeter. A drone unit and K9 team also assisted in the search.
Dejesus-Gomez was located and arrested shortly after 5 p.m.
He now faces multiple charges including robbery, criminal trespass, theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing apprehension, and reckless endangerment.
