The MIDC Police in Mumbai have arrested seven Bangladeshi nationals — one male and six females — for illegally entering and residing in India, violating the Passport (Entry into India) Rules 1950, Foreigners Order 1948, and Foreigners Act 1946.

Police investigations revealed that the women were lured from Bangladesh with false job offers and subsequently forced into prostitution.

Senior Police Inspector Dr. Shashikant Bhosale, along with the Anti-Terrorism Cell (ATC) of MIDC Police, detained suspect Bayazid Ayub Sheikh from the MIDC area. Verification confirmed Sheikh’s Bangladeshi citizenship. He was found to be in contact with other Bangladeshi women in Mumbai’s Andheri area, where two more women were arrested.

Based on Sheikh’s statements, the investigation expanded to Pune. A raid at Katraj’s Chavan Building rescued five more women, one of whom had an earlier case registered at Nagpada Police Station.

Authorities confirmed Sheikh’s involvement in trafficking women from Bangladesh into Mumbai and Pune for prostitution and other illicit activities.

All seven arrested individuals are now in judicial custody. The probe, led by Police Sub-Inspector Mahadev Jagtap and supervised by DCP Datta Nalavade (Zone 10), is ongoing to dismantle the trafficking network and identify other illegal entrants.
