Miami-Dade, FL — A 45-year-old Miami man, Michelson Jeancy, has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist dead last week, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Monday, August 25, in the 1200 block of Northwest 119th Street, near Opa-locka.
Investigators said Jeancy was driving a 2013 Honda Civic westbound on Northwest 103rd Street when he struck a bicyclist who had just exited a gas station and entered the roadway. The impact was severe, throwing the victim into the windshield and then onto the road.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived and pronounced the bicyclist dead at 11:28 p.m.
Authorities said Jeancy fled the scene without providing aid or calling for help. He was located days later, on Saturday, August 30, after deputies discovered his vehicle at a Miami residence. The car showed damage consistent with the crash, and surveillance footage helped corroborate the connection.
Jeancy later provided a recorded confession after being read his Miranda rights, according to officials.
He has been charged with:
Leaving the scene of a crash involving death
Tampering with physical evidence
Jeancy was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK), where he awaits further legal proceedings.
