NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – A Carmel woman was arrested Wednesday evening following a theft report and a subsequent police chase that ended in Noblesville, according to the Noblesville Police Department.
At approximately 6:47 p.m. on September 4, officers responded to a report of theft at Nails and Lounge, located at 12831 Campus Parkway. The suspect, 41-year-old Michelle Mittler, reportedly left the scene before officers arrived.
Thanks to a vehicle description from the complainant, officers quickly located Mittler’s car near Ind. 32 and Promise Road. However, when officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Mittler refused to stop and led police on a chase through downtown Noblesville and onto Indiana 38.
According to NPD Lt. Bruce Barnes, officers deployed tire deflation devices at the intersection of Ind. 38 and Hague Road, successfully flattening all four tires of Mittler’s vehicle.
Despite the deflated tires, Mittler continued to flee and collided with at least two police vehicles before stopping at Ind. 38 and Dooney Court. She was taken into custody without further incident.
Mittler was transported to Riverview Health for evaluation before being booked into the Hamilton County Jail. She faces preliminary charges of:
Theft
Resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle
Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated
As of now, no bond or bail has been set.
No civilians or officers were injured during the incident. However, police vehicles from both NPD and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department sustained damage during the pursuit.
