PARKE COUNTY, Ind. — A 25-year-old Florida woman has been arrested in Parke County after allegedly attempting to scam a Rockville resident out of a large amount of cash.
According to the Parke County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was receiving suspicious phone calls from an unknown number. The caller, later identified as Michelande Eliassaint from Orlando, Florida, was reportedly trying to convince the victim to withdraw a significant sum of money.
Authorities began investigating around 5:30 p.m. on Friday after learning that Eliassaint was planning to visit the victim’s home to collect the money.
Officers monitored the location and arrested Eliassaint when she arrived. She now faces preliminary charges of fraud and theft, both classified as Level 4 felonies under Indiana law.
Eliassaint is being held on a $15,000 cash-only bond. The investigation is ongoing.
