DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A man from Sneads Ferry is behind bars after Duplin County deputies arrested him on theft and drug-related charges.
Authorities say Michael Stevenson Jr., 44, was taken into custody on Wednesday after a joint investigation with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began on August 14, when Duplin County deputies responded to a report of a theft at a hog farm near Albertson. They later confirmed that the stolen items had come from a Prestage farm in Johnston County.
Stevenson is facing several felony charges, including:
Felony larceny
Felony possession of stolen goods
Felony obtaining property by false pretense
Deputies had previously stopped Stevenson twice—on August 13 and 14—before the theft report came in. During those stops, he was found in possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, leading to additional felony drug charges.
He is currently being held in the Duplin County Jail with a bond set at $70,000.
