North Port, Fla. (WWSB) – A North Port man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 40-year-old Zachary Lucas.

On Thursday evening, just before 9:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 8000 block of Rocliff Avenue. Lucas had been shot multiple times and was later pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, authorities arrested 26-year-old Michael Reinel and charged him with homicide. Reinel was booked into the Sarasota County Jail on Friday morning and is currently being held without bond.

Police say the shooting occurred after an argument between Reinel and Lucas, who were familiar with each other.

This marks the second homicide in North Port in the past two weeks.
