Two Arrested in Fontana Hate Crime Targeting Black Homeless Victims
Two men have been arrested in connection with a string of hate crime incidents in San Bernardino County that targeted Black homeless individuals, authorities said.
The suspects, identified as Michael Razo, 22, of Highland, and Humberto Silva, 24, of Colton, were arrested on August 19 following a months-long investigation by the Fontana Police Department and the Fontana Sheriff’s Station.
According to police, Razo and Silva repeatedly targeted homeless victims at bus stops by pulling up in a blue Chevrolet Silverado and firing paintball guns while yelling racial slurs. Some of the victims sustained injuries in the attacks.
After identifying the suspects, authorities executed search warrants at their homes and recovered evidence connected to the crimes. Both men were booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with an added hate crime enhancement.
Fontana Police believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
