CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. — A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading Carolina Beach police on a high-speed chase during an attempted arrest, according to the Carolina Beach Police Department.
Police said officers attempted to take 37-year-old Michael Passmore into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant around 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28. Authorities said Passmore fled the scene, prompting a vehicle pursuit.
According to the department, the chase ended when Passmore struck gates at The Cape neighborhood. Police said he then attempted to run from officers on foot but was quickly apprehended.
Passmore was arrested and charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor hit and run involving property damage, and misdemeanor injury to real property.
He appeared in court on Monday, where a court-appointed attorney was assigned. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 15, officials said.
