BLUE EARTH, Minn. (WCCO/CNN) – A 28-year-old man, Michael Miller, has been charged in the brutal stabbing death of a Minnesota Kwik Trip employee, identified as Dennis Vosika, early Tuesday morning.
According to charging documents, Miller entered the Kwik Trip gas station with a large knife, began destroying items and opening food, and then stabbed Vosika 43 times.
Vosika’s long-time partner, Kelsey Ogren, described the horror as “a nightmare we can’t wake up from.”
“Honestly, I think Dennis was an angel sent to Earth from God,” said Ogren, who painted a picture of a kind-hearted man who loved sports, especially the Minnesota Timberwolves, and was an avid card collector. Vosika had also lived with kidney failure for 15 years, yet remained positive and resilient.
“He wasn’t just a headline. He was a beautiful soul,” Ogren said.
Court records show that Miller lived just five minutes from the store in a group home, and was under legal guardianship. Documents revealed that Miller suffers from brain damage and PTSD.
Ogren, who describes herself as a mental health advocate, expressed frustration that someone with such serious issues was not under closer supervision.
“I do not believe this individual should’ve had access to the public. He’s clearly a danger,” she said.
Miller is now in custody, and the case is raising deeper questions about mental health care, public safety, and accountability.
