BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 41-year-old Bakersfield man, Michael Meloche, was arrested twice after deputies discovered five firearms and over 140 grams of narcotics, including fentanyl, during multiple search warrants.

The investigation began on February 1, 2025, when deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Gang Suppression Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 800 block of Woodrow Avenue. The search reportedly uncovered a loaded firearm, bear mace, approximately 57 grams of fentanyl, 106 grams of methamphetamine, and evidence of narcotics sales.

Meloche was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of controlled substances for sale, and maintaining a residence for narcotics sales. However, he was released several days later after his initial arrest.

Despite his release, KCSO continued to investigate Meloche. On February 8, 2025, deputies executed two more search warrants, one at the 6500 block of Mohawk Street and another at the 800 block of Woodrow Avenue. This time, deputies seized four additional firearms, ammunition, and around 40 grams of methamphetamine.

Meloche was arrested again on similar charges, including felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, possession of controlled substances for sale, and maintaining a residence for narcotics sales.

KCSO continues to investigate the case, and Meloche is currently in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
